Paying and Invoicing

Invoices are sent electronically and can be paid online through stripe. Optionally, you can save your credit card details for automatic fee processing on the appointment day and subsequent Medicare rebate processing. If you prefer not to have an automatic debit, an invoice will be sent on the appointment day and should be paid within the same day. An EFTPOS machine is also available at the clinic.

Cancellation Policy

Please take note of all your appointment details. Any scheduled session that is unattended will incur the full fee of the appointment.

Sometimes it is necessary to reschedule an appointment. In these instances, we request 24 hours’ notice before cancelling a scheduled appointment to avoid a cancellation fee. If you need to reschedule an appointment on a Monday, please do so by 4 pm on the Friday before your scheduled appointment.

As a courtesy, we send a reminder email two days prior to your appointment, but technology can sometimes fail. It is up to you to honour the commitment you have made to engage in treatment.

Do you offer Medicare rebates?

You can seek psychological assessment and treatment without a referral, but if you want to access rebates consider the following. Medicare rebates are available under the Better Access to Mental Health Care Initiative for up to ten individual treatment sessions and ten group treatment sessions per calendar year. To determine eligibility for the Medicare rebates, please book an extended appointment with your General Practitioner (GP) or request a referral from your treating specialist (Paediatrician or Psychiatrist).

If eligible, Medicare rebates are currently at $136.35 with a Clinical Psychologist and $92.90 for a Registered Psychologist. There are ten rebates per calendar year.

There are ten group treatmentrebates per calendar year which are at $45.50 (90 mins) and $33.45 (60 minutes) with a Clinical Psychologist.

Ten group treatment rebates per calendar year which are at $22.90 (60mins) and $31.20 (90 minutes) with a Registered Psychologist.

Provision of Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder or Disability Services by Allied Health Professionals $89.65 up to 5 sessions.

Please note: Psychological Assessment cannot be covered by Medicare.

Is Private Health Insurance Accepted?

Please check the level of cover with your private health provider.

Are you able to assist with NDIS funding?

Child & Family Matters can provide services to families who have self-managed and plan managed NDIS funding. We are not a registered provider of National Disabilty Insurance Agency (NDIA) support. We are able to work with families who have the flexibility to choose which providers they wish to work with to achieve their treatment goals.

Starting Treatment

The initial two sessions serve to assess your treatment needs and determine compatibility with the practitioner, with regular appointments. Telehealth appointments are also available, with the practitioner providing a corresponding link for remote sessions.

What is Trauma?

Trauma occurs when there is a consistent patten of treatment leaving us feeling unworthy or unacceptable. This leads to a disconnection with self and a belief we must ignore or betray ourselves in order to be loved or accepted.

You may be a functional perfectionist, functional alcoholic, or an overachiever who is successful in their career. There may be a lot of unexplained experiences of anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, low self-worth, a need to be viewed a certain way and/or feeling stuck. You have goals but cannot move forward and find yourself stuck in patterns of behaviours

All information obtained from you is to facilitate treatment planning and is securely stored. Your referrer will be provided with a summary of your progress.
