Family law services by registered psychologists

Providing child-centred insight in the Family Court process.  Led by experienced psychologist and Single Expert, Dr Latika Sadashiv.

Prioritising family well-being in challenging times

Separation and family law matters can be complex, especially when you need to make decisions about parenting, safety, and children’s well-being. Family law services provide psychological insight and structured support designed to help parents, lawyers, and the Court understand family dynamics and children’s emotional needs.

With experience as a Single Expert and Counselling and Clinical Psychologist, Dr Latika Sadashiv provides unbiased, evidence-based assessments to the Court so complex situations can be understood clearly. As a Single Expert, she prepares a range of reports, including psychological assessments, Child Impact Reports, Family Reports, and Specific Issues Reports. She also provides Child-Inclusive Mediation, ensuring children’s experiences and needs are thoughtfully considered outside of Court where appropriate.

No matter your circumstances, we aim to keep every child’s well-being at the heart of what we do.

Pathways to healing and understanding

Psychological assessments and reports

A psychological assessment and report offer the Court clear insight into a person’s mental health, personality, and functioning. These assessments answer specific questions about how that person may parent or co-parent, and aim to provide recommendations that support child-centred decision-making.

Child Impact Reports

A Child Impact Report provides the Court with a child-focused snapshot to guide interim decisions. This early insight helps the Court understand what may best support each child’s safety and well-being.

Family Reports

A Family Report provides the Court with a comprehensive assessment of parental vulnerabilities and familial dynamics. It examines factors such as family violence and substance use, giving the Court detailed, evidence-based recommendations for long-term, child-centred outcomes.

Specific Issues Report

A Specific Issues Report addresses matters as determined by the Court order. This may include concerns about safety, communication, or a child’s relationship with a parent.

Family dispute resolution and Child-Inclusive Mediation

Family dispute resolution supports co-parents in making decisions outside of Court by reducing conflict and focusing on children’s emotional and developmental needs. We offer:

  • Child consultancy (Child-Inclusive Mediation): Child consultancy aims to provide children with a developmentally safe way to share their experiences. A Child Consultant meets individually with each child and provides feedback to the parents during mediation. The children articulate their experiences and the Child Consultant is responsible for communicating the needs of the children to the parents. This feedback helps to form a parenting plan that considers the children’s needs, safety, and well-being
  • Therapeutic mediation: Therapeutic mediation combines mediation with psychoeducation for co-parents needing deeper guidance. Over three months and at least six two-hour appointments, parents learn about their children’s developmental, emotional, and cultural needs and how separation may affect them.
